I’m the oldest male in my pod and that makes me the boss. Although I’m very friendly, I take my responsibilities seriously. This sometimes means keeping the younger male dolphins in line. I live on the West Coast of the South Island, where the largest population of us Hector’s dolphins live. There are six dolphins in my pod off Westport at the moment, but that number can change. We sometimes have new dolphins arriving to join us and sometimes dolphins from our pod go off to visit other pods for a while.
